An estimated 60 000 motor sport enthusiasts and Formula 1 fans stormed the streets of Sandton to watch ING Renault F1 driver Nelson Piquet and the team's third driver Lucas DiGrassi in action at Sunday's (27 July) Gauteng Province Renault F1 Team Sandton Roadshow.

Premier Mbhazima Shilowa is to dispatch several infrastructure experts by the end of the month to the Democratic Republic of Congo to assist with water and sanitation projects. This was announced by the Gauteng Office of the Premier on Thursday 03 July 2008 following the Gauteng Provincial Government two-day visit to the central African country.

Small businesses in townships across Gauteng will this year be targeted for assistance through various financial and non financial support mechanisms.
This was announced by Gauteng MEC for Finance and Economic Affairs, Paul Mashatile, when he tabled the budget vote speech of the Department of Economic Development at the Gauteng Legislature.
